William L. “Billy” Mullis, 76, of Jesup, Georgia died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 after an extended illness. The Wayne County, Georgia native was a member of O’Quinn Baptist Church and a retired farmer. A favorite past-time was enjoying his time in Ellijay, Georgia, attending festivals, and mountain get-togethers. He was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy Adeline Mullis; parents, Willie and Clara Withrow Mullis.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Rheta Bennett Mullis of Jesup, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Tony Powell of Elijay, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Teresa Mullis of Jasper, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Hodge of Jesup, Georgia, Wanda and Larry Westberry of Warner Robins, Georgia, Frances and Gary Hoffman of Gainesville, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Zelda Mullis of Waycross, Georgia; 4 grandchildren, Curt Powell, Hope (Dusty) Johnson, Taylor (J.D.) James, Candice (Jordan) Hunter; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Manning, Rev. Donnie Mullis, and Pastor Gerald Greenlee officiating. Interment will be in O’Quinn Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Mullis, Lee Mullis, Jeff Mullis, Shon Mullis, Ronnie Mullis, and Chuck Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanton and Faye Mullis, Glynn and Denny Mullis, Ronald and Judy Anderson, Shirley Anderson, Hazel Anderson, James and Terri Godwin, Derek and Melody Sinclair, Windell and Alene Griffin, Billy and Joan Thornton, Chuck and Joan Sangster, Ken Cowart, and the 1958 Graduating Class of Screven High School.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home.
