AUGUSTA, Ga. – Thelma Mullis Rager, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 10, 2010, in her home surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Alfred I. Rager, parents, Fred L. Henderson, Sr. and Stella Mae Fish Henderson; brothers and sisters, F. L. “Freddie” Henderson, Jr., Lucile Bearden, Essie Garrett, Jessie Fay Seefluth, Henry Henderson; son, Herman H. Martin and her son-in-law, Harry J. Odum.
Being born on Valentine’s Day, her family always thought of her as their Sweet Valentine.
She was a Richmond County Crossing Guard, and she worked at the King Mill. Her family will always lovingly remember how she loved to sing hymns and how springtime in her yard was always special to her. She always put her family first.
Mrs. Rager is survived by her daughter, Tommie M. Odum, and her daughter-in-law, Earline Martin; grandchildren, Dianne M. (Bill) Pittman, Steven (Sandy) Martin, Heather R. Guthrie, great grandchildren, Jenny (Jason) Perkins-Haney, Stephanie N. Martin, Thomas S. Perkins, Raymond “Levi” Guthrie and two special friends and caregivers, Debbi Durden and Retha Jordan.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral with the Reverend Keith Jordan officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, Sunday, June 13, 2010.
