Mae’s beloved husband of 61 years, Cliff, preceded her in death in 2007.
She made her home on the south side of Indianapolis for the past 65 years.
Mae was born on December 17, 1924, on a farm in Uniontown in Southern Indiana. Upon graduation from Bristow High School, she moved to Indianapolis where she worked at the Atkins Saw Company supporting the war effort. She met Cliff while both were taking dancing classes. Thus began a beautiful dance that lasted a long lifetime. Olive was a longtime member of Prospect Chapter 452, Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her two sons, Phil who lives in Indianapolis and Mark who lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Maria. Mae is also survived by her sisters, Jean Stroud, Ada Beard, Mary McKim, and Faye Foster; and her brother, Murl Sandage.
Viewing will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 24, at G. H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, at the funeral home with interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood where she will once again be united with her beloved Cliff. Online condolences may be shared with the family at: www.ghherrmann.com
