Mrs. Mildred “Millie” Lyons Mullis was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Mildred “Millie” will be remembered as an outstanding individual.

      



She was the daughter of William Brown and Vera Drnec Lyons. Mildred “Millie” grew up in Charlotte, N.C.

      Mildred “Millie” was raised with three siblings. She had two younger sisters Joan Brooks, Lucinda Shackelford and a younger brother William Lyons. Mildred “Millie” was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

       She was the daughter of William Brown and Vera Drnec Lyons. Mildred “Millie” grew up in Charlotte, N.C.

      Mildred “Millie” was raised with three siblings. She had two younger sisters Joan Brooks, Lucinda Shackelford and a younger brother William Lyons. Mildred “Millie” was usually involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

      Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Mildred “Millie” enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime. Later in life, she became friends with Jimmy Kerns, Judy Gaynor, Esther Trotter.

      On January 24, 1964 Mildred “Millie” exchanged wedding vows with Bill E.Mullis. Empathic and loyal, Mildred “Millie” was committed to making her new family happy.

      Mildred “Millie” worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Mildred “Millie” was blessed with two children, one daughter Tammy Foster, and one son William Mullis. Another blessing for Mildred “Millie” was the gift of two grandchildren, Taylor Foster, and Destiny Foster.

      Mildred “Millie” enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were raising and caring for animals. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.

      Mildred “Millie” was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was Susie the monkey, Honeygirl a dog, but loved all of her pets. She was best friends with for Susie for 16 years and 12 years with Honeygirl. Her family was rounded out by her birds, reptiles and livestock.

      Mildred “Millie” passed away on October 11, 2008 at her home. Millie fought a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by loving husband Bill Mullis, her daughter Tammy Foster, her son William “Willie” Mullis; two sisters Joan Brooks, Lucinda Shackelford , a brother William Lyons; two grandchildren Destiny and Taylor Foster. Services were held at McEwen Derita Chapel. Mildred “Millie” was laid to rest in Gethsemane Cemetary.

      Simply stated, Mildred “Millie” was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Mildred “Millie” leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mrs. Mildred “Millie” Lyons Mullis.
