Obituary:

Marjorie Nell Barrett Mullis, 82, Chickamauga, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was recently a member of Simpson Memorial Methodist Church and was previously a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she was very active and volunteered much of her time and energy on various committees.

Marjorie “Nell” was very adventurous and active in her younger years. She took flying lessons, rode motorcycles and drove fast. She water skied fearlessly on Lake Chickamauga. She was a fun loving, very special person. In her later years, she loved tending her flowers and precious great-grandchildren. Marjorie was loved by family and friends and will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known here.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Mullis, her parents, James and Effie Barrett, brothers, James, Bobby and H. D. “Boss” Barrett.

Those left to cherish her memory are her only child, Glenda, son-in-law, Elliott; granddaughter, Stacey; grandson, Adam; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Natalie, Victoria and Alexander; sister, Betty Mann; brothers, George and Charles Barrett; sisters-in-law, Irene Barrett, Betty Barrett, Laura Mullis and Nancy Kerr. She also leaves behind many beloved family members and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Michael Morton officiating. Interment will be in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
