Mullis, Mae Blanchard

Mae Blanchard Mullis

Mrs. Mullis, of Mint Hill, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Lawyers Glen Assisted Living Center surrounded by her husband and children.

Mae was born November 20, 1917 to Dovie and A. J. Blanchard. She married the love of her life, Carl L. Mullis on November 1, 1958. Mae was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was lovingly described as a “love sponge’. She soaked up love and gave it out unconditionally. When you met Mae, you were never the same again. Mae’s life was like many of her age; she never complained, never judged and only saw the good in people. She was a “Proverbs 31” lady. She loved her Lord and Savior and not only talked the talk, but walked the walk. Mae worked many years in the coffee shop at Presbyterian Hospital and touched the lives of many wonderful people.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Carl; children, Tom (Jane) Kiser, Kay (Rob) Simmons, and Carolyn (Bill) Galloway; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and her brother, A. J. Blanchard of Charlotte.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Clear Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Rocky Branch and Reverend Don Lisk officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the many people at Lawyers Glen, to Hospice and Palliative Care – Charlotte and to all that prayed and helped in Mae’s homegoing.

Memorials may be made to Clear Creek Baptist Church, 9015 Ferguson Rd., Charlotte, NC 28227.

Arrangements by McEwen – Mint Hill Chapel.
