Lura Simpson Mullis
Mrs. Mullis, 86, of Mint Hill, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Lawyers Glen Assisted Living.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. Saturday, June 5, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 P.M. at Sunset Memory Gardens. The Rev. Jerry Woolery will officiate.
Born November 1, 1923 in Mecklenburg County, NC, Mrs. Mullis was a daughter of the late P. Felix Simpson and Bertha Godfrey Simpson. She served in the U.S. Navy as a secretary in Washington, DC during World War II. Mrs. Mullis retired from Charlotte Aircraft as a secretary and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Her husband, Hugh Franklin Mullis preceded her in death.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Debbie Ross, stepgrandson, Shannon Mullins, and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Anna Mullins, all of Newport, NC; two sisters, Sue Rowe of Charlotte and Teakie Nichols of Orangeburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
