ARCHER CITY — J.D. Mullis, age 96, of Archer City passed
away Thursday, January 24, 2008, in the Archer City Nursing
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008, at
the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater,
Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will
follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on
Friday, January 25, 2008, at Aulds Funeral Home.
J.D. was born August 9, 1911 in Trickham, Coleman, County,
Texas, to Willie D. Mullis and Mae McWhorter Mullis.
He was a resident of Brown County, Texas, from 1916 until 1948
when he moved to Archer City.
He and Hazel Page were married July 1, 1939, in Austin, Texas.
She preceded him in death on April 28, 2000.
J.D. was an oilfield pumper until his retirement in 1990. He was
a member of the First Baptist Church where he served several
Survivors include two daughters, Tommye Jane Wright and husband,
Bob Wright of Wichita Falls, and Lucretia Cargill and husband,
David of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Coleta Fenley of Robert Lee,
Texas; three grandsons, Tom Cargill and wife, Susie of Coppell,
Scotty Lofland and wife, Kim of Wichita Falls, and Greg Lofland of
Grand Prairie, Texas; one great-granddaughter, Carolyn Cargill; two
great-grandsons, Tim and Ben Lofland; and numerous beloved nieces
