Helen Maxine Mullis, 69, of 1620 Childers Road, Cleveland, passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Iredell County on May 23, 1939, to Helen Helms Gillespie and the late George Gillespie. She retired as shipping clerk of General Microcircuits of Mooresville and graduated from Mooresville Senior High. She is survived by her husband, R. Parks Mullis, a son, Mark Pope (Barbara) of Troutman; a stepson, Rodrick Parks Mullis (Sheila) of New Salem; three daughters Beverly Whitlow (Bill) of Mooresville; Terry Hoke (Ronda) of Statesville; Stephanie Wilhelm (Billy) of Denver; a brother, Jerry Gillespie (Emma Lou) of Mooresville; a sister-in-law, Ann Gillespie of Mooresville; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Gillespie.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 Saturday evening at Troutman Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Helen Maxine Mullis will be held at Troutman Baptist Church in Troutman at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, with Dr. Paul Childers and Dr. Earl Linderman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Iredell Memorial Mausoleum.. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Troutman Baptist Church Building Fund, 305 Perry Road, Troutman, NC 28166. The family gives special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors on the 2nd and 4th floor of Iredell Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Iredell County.
