Mullis, Gary Dean

LEROY – Gary Dean Mullis, 53, LeRoy, passed away at 8:18 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 8, 2009) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy, with Tim Vollstedt, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Gary Mullis Memorial Fund, in care of Busey Bank, LeRoy.

Gary was born Nov. 29, 1955, at Concord, N.C., a son of William M. and Barbara K. Helton Mullis.

He is survived by his son, Josh (JoAnna Douglas) Mullis, LeRoy; parents, William and Barbara Mullis, Granite City; three grandchildren, Austin Mullis, Kylie Mullis and Brady Mullis, all of LeRoy; brother, Richard Mullis I, Granite City; two nephews, Richard Mullis II and Jaron Mullis, both of Granite City.

Gary had been a draftsman for Permabilt which is now Hundman Truss & Walls in LeRoy. He also had been a custodian at the LeRoy Elementary Grade School for 10 years.

Gary was of the Baptist faith and was attending the LeRoy Christian Church.

He loved to ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Gary liked to do construction work on the side.

He was a loving father, son, brother, papa and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
