Dorothy Gravitt Mullis, 84, died on Sunday, April 27 2008. Her husband of 66 years, Jack Dowling Mullis, died on Saturday.
She was born in Chickamauga on Aug. 18, 1923 to the late Vick and Hettie Hurst Gravitt of Chickamauga. She had resided in Summerville, Ga. for the past few years, she had been a lifelong resident of Chickamauga, and was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School. She was a homemaker and retired form Price Pharmacy in Chickamauga after 30 years of employment.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga since 1955, where she was a member of the Euzelian Sunday School Class, and an active participant with the Senior Citizens Group. She was a member of the Chickamauga Garden Club and the Homemakers Club.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Susan Mullis, of Summerville, Ga., Chris and Joni Mullis, of Fort Mill, S.C.; brother, John D. Gravitt;, three sisters and their spouses, Ruth and Julian Phillips, Frankie and James Good, Hazel Rutledge, all of Chickamauga; grandchildren and their spouses, Abby and Aaron King, of Clermont, Fl., Scott and Tiffany Mullis, of Independence, Ky., Jennifer Mullis, Eric and Kaley Mullis, all of Fort Mill, S.C.; great-grandchild, Anna Faith Mullis, of Independence, Ky.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, graveside at Chickamauga Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
