Glenda M. Morris, 71, passed away Thursday (Dec. 31, 2009) at Hawthorn Lakes in Vernon Hills.
She was born July 14, 1938, in Sidney. She was a 1956 graduate of Homer High School and attended Eastern Illinois Teachers College.
Glenda raised her family in St. Joseph, where she served as a trustee on the town board and a Sunday School teacher at the United Methodist Church.
She was a former mortgage lender at Busey Bank in Urbana and was a member of Altrusa. She was a member of the Libertyville Covenant Church and she was also a member of the songsters and held a Bible study group at Hawthorn Lakes in Vernon Hills.
Surviving are her four children, Bradley Morris of Rantoul, Penny (Lorenzo) Gutierrez of St. Albans, Vt., Timothy (Peggy) Morris of St. Joseph and Stephen (Holly) Morris of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Michael and Alex Gutierrez, Jordan, Julian, Jonah and Jett Morris, Jennifer Hall and Josh Ramsey; great-grandson, David Hall Jr.; brothers, Danny (Carol) Mullis and Lanny Mullis; and a sister, Cinda (Gene) Pridemore.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Madeline Shreeves, and also by her former husband, George William Morris.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Libertyville Covenant Church, 250 St. Mary’s Road, Libertyville. There will also be a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Countryside United Methodist Church, 990 Country Road 1800 E, Urbana. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Sidney.
Memorials may be made to the Libertyville Covenant Church. Arrangements were handled by the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home in Libertyville (847-362-3009).
