MICHAEL A. MULLIS, 62, of Woodstock, died Tuesday, June 11th, 2013.
On Saturday, September 14, 2013, commencing at 1:30 pm, a Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Lakeside Funeral Home.
We will begin in the stateroom with a “brief time” of Reflection sharing a one-minute “Mike Story” for those who would like to share with us how Mike touched your life.
Following our time of Reflection, we will move to the Chapel for a time of Celebration of Mike’s Life officiated by Pastor Jim Tucker.
A balloon release will follow at the Lakeside Dock after the service.
As we celebrate Mike’s life, please know this is a no-tie affair.
Mike was born in Huntsville, Alabama, August 31, 1950. He lived with his parents Jim and Gladys Mullis and one brother, Tom Mullis until college.
Mike graduated in 1972 from the University of Montevallo in Alabama, served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict and was honorably discharged August 8, 1975. He received his Master of Professional Accountancy Degree through Georgia State University in 1983.
As an Accountant, he had the opportunity to work with the Alabama and Fulton County governments until he began his career of 32 years with the Cobb County School District in Marietta, GA. until his retirement in 2011.
He married his wife and soul-mate, Sherri, in 1985. He loved his step-children, Jim & Cheryl Allison and Damon & Billie Allison as his own. He was blessed with six grandchildren, Grant, Allie, Quinn, Porter, Chance and Emmie.
Mike’s passion and love for the outdoors as an Eagle Scout, led to a life-long dream of a mountain get-away which he enjoyed for 18 years with his family, Snowbird friends and canine companion, Molly.
Mike’s life was filled with many blessings. He wanted God to be glorified in his journey. As he bore his sufferings with dignity, his healing has come through the lives he touched that have been healed themselves and are now walking with the Lord. This journey for him has led to his peace. “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
Mike appreciated the e-mails and remembrances knowing his brothers and sisters-in-Christ were praying for him. We are truly grateful for your faithfulness in standing with us on this journey. It is only described as the “peace that passes all understanding”. The prayers were felt. Mike went gently passing from this earthly home to his new, heavenly home. He is awaiting each of us with open arms.
As a military honor, a marker has been placed on the family plot in Huntsville, Alabama.
Our journey is never alone. God sends special people in our lives that touch us for that moment. I wish to express deepest gratitude to my family and Mike’s family, especially his nephew and niece, Josh and Christy Mullis and their two children Tanner and Ansley, for all their love and support, his co-workers at CCSD, the Meisters Fraternity Brothers of Pi-Alpha, caregivers and all the medical personnel at Kennestone Hospital and Tower Road Rehab Center that gave their best for Mike’s care.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, a donation made to Falling Water Baptist Church at 523 Roberts Mill Road, Hixson, TN 37343 for the Marlon’s Housing Fund, Jamaica, in memory of Papa Mike.
