Maxwell Mullis

Maxwell Blue “Max” Mullis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 7, 2015.

A native and lifelong resident of Palatka, he graduated from Palatka High School in 1961. Max served in the Army National Guard, Palatka unit, from 1965-1971. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 34 years of service. Max won the hearts of many through his welcoming smile, kind spirit and his dedication to Jesus Christ, his family and friends. He was a member of Christ Independent Methodist Church where he taught the Men’s Sunday School Class for many years. He was a prayer warrior whose life was well lived as a servant to Jesus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Gator football and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard G and Mary B. Mullis.

Max is survived by 3 sons, Howard Dean Mullis (Leah), David Ray Mullis (Susan) and Casey Edward Mullis (Ellie), a sister, Hazel Hinton (Ken), Reita Hagar his loving companion, 6 grandsons, Jared Dean Mullis, Chandler David Mullis, Landon Lee Mullis, Cody Maxwell Mullis, Tanner White and Caleb Retter, 4 granddaughters, Jenifer Suzanne Mullis, Lacey Blue Mullis, Addison Nettles and Lexy White, great-grandson, Jayden Lane Peeples and nephews, Todd Rion (Leigh) and Hank Rion.

Services celebrating Max’s life will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Christ Independent Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Hudson and Rev. Amos Price officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Florida National Guard conducting military honors.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka. Flowers are gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be sent to Christ Independent Methodist Church, 4078 Silver Lake Dr., Palatka, FL 32177.
