THOMASTON — Margarett Alice Bruce Mullis passed away on November 9, 2011 at the Kitsap Hospice Center in Bremerton Washington.
She was the daughter of Mary Edna Collier Bruce and Clarence McPherson Bruce. She is survived by her daughter and grandchild, Deanna Lynn Mullis and Daniel Paul Deal; her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter, Wendy Joy Wildblood, Eric John Wildblood, and Kayla Nichole Wyatt; and her brothers, Clarence McPherson Bruce Jr. and Harry Bruce.
Born in 1940 in Thomaston, GA, Margarett graduated from R.E. Lee High School. While she did not attend college she was always interested in learning. Her diverse interests were demonstrated by the few jobs that she held through-out her life, from working in a Playtex factory, fire alarm sales, welding for Dupont, and to finally retiring from Procter and Gamble.
In her life time she did not have a lot of time for hobbies but she did enjoy traveling to new places. Whether it was right down the street or across an ocean to Hawaii or Europe, she was excited to go. Even as she got older and it became more difficult for her to travel, she still traveled to new places through the programs she watched on television. Travel shows were her favorite. She did enjoy a good game of Scrabble. Just ask her grandson, Daniel, and his friends, how animated she became when she won yet another game.
If you asked Margarett to list her greatest achievements in life, she would not have seen anything she did as above and beyond what was expected of her as a mother, sister, aunt, or friend. If you ask anyone who knew her you would hear the following: she let her children walk their own path, her grandchildren play in the dirt, and her friends and family be themselves.
Margarett never gave up hope and believed in seeing the good in everyone. She never forgot to say Thank You even for the smallest of things. Her faith in God and in her children never wavered.
As per her wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Anyone wishing to honor Margarett, should make a donation to the local Women’s and Children’s shelter.
