Linda Polk Mullis

Linda Polk Mullis HIGH POINT – Linda Polk Mullis, of High Point, N.C., passed away at Pennybyrn at Maryfield on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.

Linda was the daughter of Ralph Polk and Elizabeth Long Polk. Born in Charlotte, NC, on May 11, 1939, she graduated from Fairview School and Western Carolina University Magna Cum Laude with a BA in English.

Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to helping others through her work as a daycare director, English teacher, social worker, and Program Administrator for Aging, where she administered multiple government programs designed to help make life better for older adults.

While living in Raleigh, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed Sunday School and singing in the choir. Linda retired in 2008 and moved to Pennybyrn in High Point, NC in 2010.

She is survived by her sister, Gail Polk Williams, her brother, Wayne Polk, and her daughters, Sonja Thompson and Tamara Jewell. Linda also leaves four granddaughters and one grandson.

Her memorial service will be held at Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home at 4715 Margaret Wallace Road in Matthews, NC on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 11:00am with visitation after the service. The family would especially like to thank Linda’s caregivers at Pennybyrn during the last several years. Memorials may be made to either Pennybyrn at Maryfield or the Alzheimer’s Association.
