AXSON- Funeral for [tooltip content=”Database Info” url=”http://ourbigclan.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I688&tree=2000″ ] Lavon MuIlis[/tooltip] 61. was held Sunday afternoon at the Axson Evangelistic Church with the Rev. Ralph Barnard officiating.

Burial was In Sattila Memorial Gardens near Douglas under the direction of Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson.

Mr. Mullis died Friday at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta after a brief illness.

He was a retired farmer, a veteran of U.S. Navy service in World War II and a member of Axson Evangelistic Church. A native of Atkinson County.

He was the son of the late [tooltip content=”Database Info” url=”http://ourbigclan.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I642&tree=2000″ ]Francis Marion[/tooltip] and [tooltip content=”Database Info” url=”http://ourbigclan.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I687&tree=2000″ ]Milliann Melissa Starling Mullis[/tooltip].

He Is survived by his wife [tooltip content=”Database Info” url=”http://ourbigclan.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I689&tree=2000″ ]Juanita Swails Mullis[/tooltip], Axson; three sons, Ashley Mulis, Savannah; Staff Sgt. Robert L. Mullis, Ft. Lewis, Wash., and Mark Mullis, Jacksonville, Fla: a brother. G.F. Mullis, Axson: two sisters. Gladys Mercer, Axson, and Lorraine Wall, Pearson; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Stanley Wall, Starling Mercer, David Oliver. Robert Pryor, Keo Swails, and Francis Mullis.
