Horace Mullis

Horace Mullis, age 85, surrounded by his loving family, passed away at his home, Tuesday, July 8, 2014, after an extended illness

Horace was born in Bleckley County to the late James Ivey Mullis and Mae Fellows Mullis. He served our country proudly during the Korean War as a Corporal in the 3rd Infantry Division. He then went to work for Armstrong in Macon for 35 years where he retired as a supervisor. Horace loved his church, Grace Primitive Baptist, where he dutifully attended and served as a deacon for many years. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who always had time for his family. He was a very active person his entire life prior to getting sick. He and his wife experienced many adventures together on several bus trips they took all over the country and to Canada with the Spear Travel organization and especially enjoyed going to Branson Missouri. He also loved to work in his yard and exercise by walking 3 miles every day.

Horace is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Grace Mullis of Macon, 6 children; Steven H. Mullis (Carla) of Gray, Deborah M. McCrimmon (Kenny) of Dry Branch, Ginger M. Harrison (Craig) of Gray, Vicky M. Adams (Jeff) of Byron, Sandy M. Darley (Tillman) of Roberta, and Larry Mullis of Macon,3 step-children; Larry Maddox (wendy), Lynn Maddox both of Macon and Rhonda Eaton (Steve) of Gray, 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a brother, Jack Mullis of Hawkinsville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susie Barlow Mullis, a daughter, Kathy M. Fincher, a step-son, Randy Maddox and 4 brothers and 3 sisters including his twin sister Doris Mullis.

A service to celebrate Horace’s life will be held in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 am with Elder Dan Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Crest Lawn Funeral Home.
