Mrs. Doris Mullis Fowler, 83, died Thursday morning (October 27, 2011) at Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness.

She was a native of Coffee County, but she has lived most of her life in Waycross. She graduated from Broxton High School in 1944. Mrs. Fowler retired from Waycross Sportswear as a supervisor, and she was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church. She volunteered as a “Pink Lady” for Satilla Regional Medical Center for 20 years.

Mrs. Fowler is the daughter of the late James Monroe Mullis and Ethel Glisson Mullis. She was preceded in death by two sons, Al Fowler and Danny Fowler; one grandson, Lesly Taylor; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Fowler Saussy.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, A. G. Fowler of Waycross; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jimbo Taylor of Waycross; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Samantha Fowler of Pierce County; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Fowler-DiBiase of Waycross; three grandsons, Roger Dale Fowler (wife Kesha) of Waycross, Dakota Fowler of Pierce County, and Matthew Fowler of Pierce County; three granddaughters, Allison Taylor Turner (husband David) of Waycross, Heather Fowler Howard (husband Michael) of Cumming, and Raliegh Fowler of California; 13 great grandchildren; five sister-in-laws, Irene Carver (husband Alton) of Westgreen, Ertis Hamilton (husband Charles) of Madison, Geraldine Carter (husband Boots) of Fitzgerald, Ester Fowler of Ambrose, and Addie Mullis of Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (October 29, 2011) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family will be gathering at the home of Marcia and Jimbo Taylor, 1839 Huckaby Rd., Waycross, GA 31501.
