Services for Cecil Wayne Mullis, age 75, of Dublin, were held on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Burial followed in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jeff Audirsch officiated.
Mr. Mullis was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Cecil Mullis and Lois McDaniel Mullis, and a brother, Travis Mullis. Mr. Mullis was born April 11, 1937 in Dexter, GA. He attended Dexter High School and earned a B. S. Degree in Criminal Justice at Georgia Southern University. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years. Mr. Mullis retired from the Georgia State Patrol after 28 years of service. He was a member of the GA Peace Officer’s Association and the American Association of State Troopers. He was an active member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. He was deeply devoted to his family. He had a deep appreciation of nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed car racing and boxing. He took pride in his gardening and his lawn, and also enjoyed traveling and music. He never met a stranger and enjoyed people.
He is survived by his wife of 53 ½ years, Joyce Ward Mullis of Dublin; children, Kehl Mullis (Sharon) of Woodstock, Kim McMillan (Reid) of Canton and Karmen Mullis (Sree Kavuri) of Dublin. Grandchildren, Brandi Mullis of Los Angeles, CA, Jason McMillan of El Paso, TX, Chelsea Stanley (Nathan) of Jasper, GA, Joshua McMillan of Canton, GA, Katherine Kavuri of Dublin, and Sophia Kavuri of Dublin, Great Granddaughter, Hayliee McMillan of Canton, GA, Brother, Larry Mullis (Carolyn) of Dublin, Sisters, Faye Fountain (Gerald) of Dublin, Miriam Williams (Calvin) of Dexter, and Yvonne Mullis (Glynn) of Dublin.
Pallbearers will be Jason McMillan, Joshua McMillan, Reid McMillan, Sree Kavuri, Nathan Stanley, Brett Ward, Brian Frentress, and Monty Hester
GA State Patrol will serve as honorary escorts.
The family received friends on Sunday from 1:00PM until funeral hour at the Chapel of Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
