Betty Joyce Mullis

Betty Joyce Mullis, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Mullis was born on December 20, 1933, in Macon, GA to the late John Williams and Emma Wainwright Williams.

Survivors include: her husband, Joseph Leland Mullis of Douglas, GA; daughter, Brenda (Brian) Lamy of Douglas, GA; two sisters, Margaret Donaldson of Macon, GA and Dorothy Bowden of McDonough, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Mullis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Frist Baptist Church.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Douglas Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are: Tommy Sheppard, Joe Day, Garland Thompson, Dr. John Moffet, Bob Moore, and Larry Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers are: Betty Turner’s Sunday School Class. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Cochran – Anna Liza Davis Mullis, age 83, died Wednesday in Bryant Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Mullis was born and had lived most of her life in Cochran. She was the daughter of the late Charlie R. and Beulah Howell Evans and former wife of the late Ralph Davis. She was a former employee of Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon, Bleckley Memorial Hospital and L&H Shirt Factory. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors are her husband, R.M. “Wank” Mullis of Cochran; children, Patricia (Wayne) Brown, Mike (Janice) Davis and Mitch (Sheila) Davis of Cochran, Larry (Tommie) Davis of Putnam County and Elaine (Len) Finch of Hawkinsville; step-children, Mike (Tracy) Mullis and Angela (Kent) Elliott of Macon, Melanie (Keith) Flingston of Plano, TX; brother, J.R. (Ann) Evans of Vienna; thirteen grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 232 Highway 126, Cochran, GA 31014.

The family is at 328 Highway 87 Bypass and will greet friends from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Thursday at Mathis Funeral Home.

Cochran – Jason Wayne Mullis, age 37, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, in the Medical Center in Macon. A visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home.

Jason, born in Macon, had lived most of his life in Cochran and was the son of the late Norman Wayne Mullis. He was a graduate of Bleckley County High School and was a self employed construction roofer.

Survivors are his wife, Rhonda Mullis of Cochran; children, Tyler Mullis, Amber Mullis and Brianna Mullis of Cochran; step-son, Cody Corley of Cochran; his mother Renetta Mullis of Cochran; sister, Julie (Barry) Lanfair of Cochran; uncle, Gary Leverett of Macon.

The family is at 299 Pea Ridge Road.

Cochran – R.M. “Wank” Mullis, age 83, died Monday, November 28, 2016, in Taylor Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Mullis, born in Chester, had lived in Macon before moving to Cochran 25 years ago. He was the son of the late Sam and Lina Smith Mullis and the husband of the late Anna Liza Davis Mullis. He was retired form Armstrong Corp. and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors are his children, Mike (Tracy) Mullis and Angela (Kent) Elliott of Macon and Melanie (Keith) Klingsporn of Plano, TX; step-children, Larry (Tommie) Davis of Lake Sinclair, Patricia (Wayne) Brown, Mike (Janice) Davis and Mitch (Sheila) Davis of Cochran and Elaine (Len) Finch of Hawkinsville; sister, Hazel (Albert) Stroup of Augusta; eight grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; eighteen step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Cochran – Idus “Red” Mullis, Jr., age 75, died Saturday in Macon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rozar Cemetery.

Mr. Mullis, born in Dodge County, was the son of the late Idus and Maggie Boutwell Mullis, Sr. He was a carpenter, US Army Veteran of the Korean War and Pentecostal.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Mullis of Cochran; his children, Patricia Woodard and Kenneth Mullis of Cochran, James Mullis and Daniel Mullis of Macon and Kim (Bradd)
Rowland of Chester; sister, Barbara Miller of Macon; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Timothy Wayne Mullis

Timothy Wayne Mullis, 48, of Lizella, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012. Graveside services will be at 2:00PM on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Macon Memorial Park with the Reverend Jimmy Woods officiating.

Mr. Mullis was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman.

Martha Frances Durr

(September 14, 1931 – January 18, 2012)

Martha Frances Durr, 8o, passed away on January 18, 2012 after a lengthy illness surrounded by her family. “Grandma,” as she was affectionately known by all who love her, was the epitome of a Southern Lady. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was loved by all who knew her. She never met a stranger and her warm heart, loving spirit, quick wit, and contagious smile made all who knew her feel special.

Mrs. Durr was born in Crawford County, Georgia on September 14, 1931. She was the only daughter of Frances Barfield Mullis and Clement Hutto. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 41 years, Andrew H. Durr, Sr. Grandma was a full-time homemaker. She loved her family dearly and nothing made her more proud than being a grandmother.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tripp Yarbrough and Andi and Ray Mitchell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Drew and Julia Durr, and Lonnie and Nancy Willis all of Macon, Georgia. Grandma is survived by ten grandchildren; Caitlin and Colby Yarbrough, Austin Yarbrough Johnston (Blake), Andrew, Haley, and Hillary Durr, Kellie Wilder (Keith), Brant Willis (Amy), Chad Willis (Paige), and Casey Willis (Lycia) and 7 great-grandchildren. Other surviving relatives include a brother, Alvin Hutto, and several cousins whom she loved dearly.

She was a member of Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church and the Nan Freeman Sunday School Class. Mrs. Durr’s Celebration of Life services will be held at Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church, in Macon, at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2011. Interment will be private. Dr. Jay Harris and Dr. Laudis H. Lanford will conduct the services.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Central Georgia for their kindness and loving care of “Grandma” during her lengthy illness. Deepest gratitude is also extended to Thelma Daniels, Mary Binford, Dr. Kim Johnston, Dr. Mufid Othman and his staff, Dr. Juan Esnard and his staff, and Dr. Mark Hendricks and his staff. Lillian Bryan Mullis

(February 25, 1917 – December 26, 2011)

Macon-

Lillian Bryan Mullis, age 94, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011. She joined her late husband, Joe Mullis who went home to the Lord last September.

Mrs. Mullis was the daughter of the late J.O. “Monk” and Fannie Lou Wood Bryan. She was a member of the Warner Robins First Assembly of God. She loved the Lord God with all her heart and served Him for many years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Cooking and caring for her family brought her great pleasure.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Pvt. First Class Amy Elizabeth Layton; and brothers, James Bryan and Julian Bryan.

Mrs. Mullis is survived by her loving daughters, Darrell Sark, Myra Carson (Paul), and Deborah Crawford (Harrison); grandchildren, Kim Minix, Erik Sark, Amber Carter, and Petty Officer First Class Adam Layton; great grandchildren, Andrea and Alyssa Minix, and Joel Carter; brothers, Billy (Vi), Doyle (Onita), and Woodie Bryan (Sibbie); sisters, Vera Knight (Eldridge), Faye Huddleston (Howard); very special sister in law, Inez Wood; and many nieces and nephews.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Darrell Sark. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour, Wednesday at Crest Lawn.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. The Reverend Etah Garcia will officiate. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
