Dorothy Mullis Bussell, 90, entered into rest on Monday, January 2, 2012.

Mrs. Bussell was born on July 6, 1921 in Laurens County, Georgia. She was of the Baptist faith. Dorothy retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base where she worked as a clerk. Her husband, James Frederick Bussell, son, James Edward Bussell, daughter and son in law, Sandra and Hugh Fennell, and parents, J.W. and Annie L. Bloodworth Mullis, all preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter and son in law, Dena and David Stone, Hawkinsville; nine grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Interment will be private.


Evelyn A. Mullis

Evelyn A. Mullis, 85, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012, at the Linton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 18, 1926 in Linton, the daughter of William and Leona (Kirkpatrick) Cullison. She was raised by Dr. MS and Eleanor Mount as her foster parents. She married Harry Mullis in April of 1946.

Evelyn kept a home for her family while working for the General Electric Linton plant for seventeen years. She retired from G.E. in 1986. Evelyn was a member of the American Legion Post #22 Auxiliary, the VFW Post # 7117 in Worthington, the Order of Eastern Star, Columbian Chapter #140. She graduated from Bloomfield High School with the class of 1945.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Orr of Linton; one son, Terry J. (Nancy) Mullis of Linton; grandchildren, Rob (Trish) Whitaker, Becky (Dewayne) Mayfield, Andy (Jen) Mullis and Kara Mullis; Four great-grandchildren, Rylie, Rogan, Kahlia and Sienna. Also surviving are her foster siblings, James Mount, MD, David Mount and Luanna Goetz.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters and companion Charles Tincher.

The Mullis family is following Evelyn’s wishes as no calling or services are being held at this time. A private family service will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield at a later date.

William “Billy” Edward Watkins

William “Billy” Edward Watkins, 81, passed away Friday, December 30, 2011.

Billy was born November 29, 1930, in Union County, NC, son of the late Lonnie Baxter and Margaret Elma Hargett Watkins, he is also preceded in death by a son Edward “Eddie” Watkins.

Funeral services will be held 2 :00 PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Gordon Funeral Chapel, burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Betty Mullis Watkins, a daughter Elizabeth “Lib” Watkins of Charlotte, a brother Richard Watkins of St. Petersburg, Fl., a sister Irene Price of Indian Trail, a grandson Derek Watkins and two great grandchildren Derek Watkins, Jr. and Katey Watkins.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service & Crematory 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.

Doris Avery Greene Mullis age 77, of Chickamauga, Georgia passed away Monday-January 31, 2005 in a local hospital.

She was born in LaFayette to the late Reverend: Gordon Lee and Eunice Graham Greene.

She had been a lifelong resident of Walker County in the Chickamauga and LaFayette communities. She was a former employee of Crystal Springs Mill, a former teacher at Osburn Elementary, former substitute teacher for Chickamauga City Schools and a case manager for the Developmental Disabilities area of the Lookout Mountain Community Services for more than 20 years. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga and was a very active community person where she participated on the Cherokee Library Board, former President of the Chickamauga Public Schools Parent Teacher Association, “Homeroom Mom” for Jeff and Jerry, former “Patrol Mom”, Former “Choir Mom” at the First Baptist Church, and a member of the Chickamauga American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her Husband: Henry E. (Gene) Mullis, Daughter: Lorie Gene Mullis and Brother: G.L. Greene, Jr.

She is survived by her Sons and Daughters-In-Law: Georgia State Senator: Jeff & Teresa Mullis of Chickamauga, Jerry & Parisa Mullis of Alpharetta, GA, five precious grandchildren: Amanda, Emily, Gregory, Jonathan and Justin, one great-grandchild: Kierstin, Brothers: Gene Greene of Greenville, S.C., Delphin Graham Greene of Rockmart, GA., Sister: Bettye Giles of Silver Creek, GA., several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-9:00 P.M.-Wednesday, 12 Noon-2:00 P.M. and 5-9:00 P.M.-Thursday and Friday from 12 Noon until the service. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga with Minister: Jay Neal-Georgia State Representative and Reverend: Harry Reeves officiating. Chip Catlett, Billy Neal Ellis, Larry Christol, Pat Hamilton, Roy Parrish, Jr. and Ray Crowder will serve as Pallbearers. Mrs. Mullis was born on September 18, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed arts and crafts, singing, piano and music. Her memory will forever be treasured by her husband, Edward Joseph Mullis; parents, Curtis F. Beculhimer, Delta, Alabama, and Mary Virginia Frum, Kathleen; children, Joseph Edward Mullis, Warner Robins, Dennis Wayne Mullis, Macon, Angela Dawn Bivins (Walter), Elko, Jason Lee Mullis, Kathleen, and Veronica F. Kreznar (Rick), Coolidge; brother, Curtis F. Beculhimer II, Delta, Alabama; sisters, Stella Townsend, Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth Ricer, Woodsfield, Ohio, and Martha Smith, Racoon, Kentucky; and seven grandchildren.

Ray Daniel Mullis

Mr. Mullis, of Charlotte, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his residence.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 9 at Evergreen Burial Park in Mint Hill.

A native of Mecklenburg County, Ray was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was self-employed at R.D. Mullis Upholstery and later opened Central Food and Beverage, which he operated until his retirement. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Clyde Mullis, a daughter, Peggy Sue Manus and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Mullis.

Surviving are a daughter, Chichi Keziah and husband, Julius, of Harrisburg; two sons, Steven Mullis of Huntersville and Randy Mullis and wife, Lynn, of Spartanburg, SC; a son-in-law, Monk Manus of Hemby Bridge; a sister, Dot Hagler of Mint Hill; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffith Street, Suite 203, Davidson, NC 28036.

Survivors include her parents, Betty and George McGuinness, loving husband Donnie Mullis, son Brian Patrick Mullis (Marchele), brother Peter McGuinness (Vicki), 3 sisters Karen Durivou (Jimmy), Peggy Mechtel (Bob) and Eileen Ferguson.

Mullis, Charles William

Charles William Mullis, age 88, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011.

Mr. Mullis was born March 31, 1922 in Dexter, GA. He was the owner and operator of Mullis Appliance and a Navy Veteran of WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Frances Mullis, a great grand daughter, Emily Hope Harrison and a son-in-law, Jerry Roberts, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Sheila Roberts, Selma Harrison (Calvin), Charlene Denison (Joe), a sister, Inez Woods, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held in the chapel of FRASER FUNERAL HOME, 8168 Normandy Blvd. (781-4314), Jacksonville, FL at 2:00pm on Friday, January 21, 2011.

Mr. Mullis will be cremated followed by burial at sea by the US Navy.
