Betty Joyce Mullis

Betty Joyce Mullis, age 81, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Mullis was born on December 20, 1933, in Macon, GA to the late John Williams and Emma Wainwright Williams.

Survivors include: her husband, Joseph Leland Mullis of Douglas, GA; daughter, Brenda (Brian) Lamy of Douglas, GA; two sisters, Margaret Donaldson of Macon, GA and Dorothy Bowden of McDonough, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Mullis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Frist Baptist Church.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Douglas Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are: Tommy Sheppard, Joe Day, Garland Thompson, Dr. John Moffet, Bob Moore, and Larry Lewis. Honorary Pallbearers are: Betty Turner’s Sunday School Class. Sims Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Kathy Darleen Connell Mullis

Mrs. Kathy Darleen Connell Mullis, 58, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Darleen was born November 9, 1954 in Texas while her Father and Mother were stationed at Shepherd AFB, Texas, she is the daughter of Kathy Williams Connell and the late Laddie N. Connell.

Visitation will be Thursday evening, January 17, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, Services to celebrate the life of Darleen will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Reverend Jack Hildreth and Reverend Scott Patterson officiating, interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband: Danny Mullis of the home, Daughters: Tara LaRae Woody and Phil Acevedo, Christen Nichol “Christy” Byrum and Scott, Sons: Daniel Kasey Mullis and Angela all of Monroe, Will Hayes and Tiquia of Wingate, grandchildren: Kayleigh, Hunter, Landen, Blake, Owen, Tyler, Shelly, Sierra, Stephen, Mojo, Lucky, Baby Angel#2, Ian, Kasey, Tristan and Logan, Mother: Kathy W. Connell and stepfather: Charles Penegar of Monroe, Sister: Terry Connell Davis and Brent of Marshville.

MULLIS James Milo Mullis Jr. 62, passed away January 2, 2013 in Jacksonville , Fl. Born July 27, 1950 in Caldwell , GA to James Milo Mullis Sr. and Maryetta Howell Mullis.

Mr. Mullis was a retired Army Officer and survived by his sisters Gail Taylor, Anita Waldrip, Patsy Foley, Kathy Moore, Janice Morales, and brother Wayne Mullis.

He is predeceased by his parents and brother Rickey Mullis. We will miss a great brother and friend.

Harry Eugene Mullis

Reidsville – Harry Eugene Mullis, 73, of 205 Styer Dairy Road, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Johnson and Rev. Gary Wackler officiating.

Harry was born in Forsyth Co. to the late Charles Lee and LaVada Lamberth Mullis. He moved to Reidsville in 1949 and graduated from Reidsville High School in 1957 and then graduated from NC State University with a Nucleur Engineering Degree in 1961. He was commissioned into the US Army February 1962, serving 21 years including two tours in Vietnam. He retired in December 1982 as a Lt. Colonel. He completed Missouri Auction School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1976 and earned his Real Estate Broker License in 1983. He established his Auction and Real Estate Business in Reidsville in 1983. In May of 2008 he joined with John Evans to form Manitou Auctions.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Tate Mullis; sons, Derek Mullis of Burlington, Terrel Mullis of Reidsville; grandson, Shan Mullis of Tallahassee Fl; granddaughters, Kelcey Mullis of Thomasville, Kiersten Paige Mullis of Tallahassee FL; brother, Leon Mullis and wife Ruth of Hawthorne, FL; brother-in-law, Billy Underwood of Eden.

The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Monday, January 7th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Other times the family will be at the residence.

Eupha Mullis

Mrs. Mullis, age 91, of Charlotte passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Asbury Care Center.

She was born September 27, 1921 in Union County, the daughter of the late John Henry Price and Bertha Chaney Price.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, J.B., Hubert, George, Harlan, and Briggs Price and sisters, Mildred Secrest and Landis Drake.

She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, going on to teach school and later retiring from a long career with First Union National Bank. Mrs. Mullis was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte.

Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Raeford Eugene Mullis; daughters, Emily Wilkins and husband Dan, Mary March and husband Stephen, and Virginia “Ginny” Mullis; grandsons, Julian March and Leland March; sister, Chattie Price Byrd; and beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 11, 2013 McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Junior Edmond “J.E.” Mullis

Funeral services for Mr. Junior Edmond “J.E.” Mullis, age 88, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with Bro. Bobby Bray officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Mullis died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.He was born in El Dorado, AR to the late Julius Edmond Mullis and Bessie Inez Burruss Mullis.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was married on June 18, 1958 to Luneate Snider. Mr. Mullis was a retired farmer, owner of Mullis Feed & Supply and Mullis Fertilizer Co., and was a member of the Federal Land Bank.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Mullis and Thomas Rouse, and a sister, Inez Duncan.Surviving are his wife, Luneate Mullis of Jackson; his son, Mike Mullis and wife Sheri of Memphis; a brother, Don Rouse and wife Jean of Henderson; a grandson, Michael Mullis and wife Leslie of Memphis; two great-grandchildren, Mallory Mullis and Owen Mullis, both of Memphis; and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests any memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society .Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Norma Faye Mullis of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at her home. She was 63 years, 3 months, and 12 days of age. She was born on September 24, 1948 in Whitley County, Kentucky to Dorothy Marie Mullis and the late Arnold Mullis.

She is survived by two brothers, David A. Mullis and wife Ella of Williamsburg, Kentuck and Jesse Mullis and wife Darlene of Barbourville, Kentucky; one niece Heather Mullis and boyfriend Brandon Miracle; two nephews, David Lee Mullis and wife Alicia, and Bobby Mullis and wife Callista; one great nephew, Darren Mullis; two great nieces, Brailey Mullis and Eliana Mullis; a very special uncle and aunt, Earl and June Wells of the Maple Creek Community, Williamsburg, Kentucky; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be after 5 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Kelley officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Wells Cemetery in Gausdale, Kentucky.

Rachel Starnes McNeill Mullis, 53, of Waxhaw passed away on February 2, 2012.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 7PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Indian Trail Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior.

Rachel was born on January 28, 1959 in Union County to Bessie Byrd and the late Bazil Starnes Jr.

She is also survived by her husband, Richard Mullis; mother, Bessie Byrd; children, Shana Carelock (Dwayne), Dedra Dawkins, Crystal Lockhart (Derrick), Jessica McNeill, William “Billy” McNeill; step-daughters, Tina Mullis and Tricia Thomas (Joe); brother, Jeff Starnes, Ted Starnes (Lori), Melton Byrd; sisters, Paula Black (Danny), Lorna James (Arnold); 20 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Louise Hester Mullis, 86, of Albany, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Willson Hospice House. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern. The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 3:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern with Rev. Carl Dunn officiating. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Mausoleum.

Mrs. Mullis was born in Cherokee County, Georgia to the late Will and Eugenia Hester. She was a homemaker who loved fishing, local racing, baking cakes and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Don, four daughters, Patricia Beckwith of Sumner, GA, Marie Stamps and her husband, Cecil, of Albany, GA, Diane Glidewell of Snellville, GA and Brenda Minton of Lebanon, MO, eleven grandchildren, Dewey Stamps, Regina Mercer, Jamie Beckwith, Melissa Smith, Loretta Frakes, Wanda Sparks, Crystal Reifert, Steven Glidewell, Bobby Ray Purvis, April Minton and DJ Minton, twenty great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, a number of nephews, including a special nephew, Jerry Johnson.

Maureen Mullis Reavis

Mrs. Maureen Mullis Reavis, of 612 Health Drive, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst at the age of 84.

Mrs. Reavis was born in Hamilton County, TN on February 14, 1927 to the late Arthur Alexander Mullis and Thelma Rebecca Bull Mullis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Albert Reavis, her sister, Gloria Estridge and her brother, William Mullis. Mrs. Reavis was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanley, NC.

Survivors include two sons, Reverend E. A. (Sonny) Reavis, Jr. and wife Sharon, of High Point, NC, and William E. Reavis and wife Martha of Plymouth, MN; two daughters, Darlene R. Clark of Raeford, NC and Bronda R. Conner of Stanley, NC; a brother, Joe Mullis and wife Shirlene of Statesville, NC; two sisters, Cleo “Boots” Cloninger and husband Bob of Stanley, NC and Carol Jones of Harrisburg, NC; 6 grandchildren, Chris Clark and wife Dorothy, Ryan Clark and wife Rosie, Brian Taylor, Christy Conner, Stacey Lundy and husband Kevin, and Sarah Reavis; 4 great grandchildren, Jeremy, Nicolle, Caden, and Carlene.

A Memorial Service will be11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at First Baptist Church, 333 North Main Street, Raeford, with Reverend Thomas Lee and Reverend Archie Stevens officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends after the service in the sanctuary.
