Sexton, Eva Elizabeth (Betty) Mullis Harris

Eva Elizabeth (Betty) Mullis Harris Sexton, of Great Cacapon, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Betty was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas I. Sexton, their children: Thomas E. Sexton (of Jonesborough, TN), Edward Harris (of Sparrows Point, MD), Mary Ann Harris Smith (of Broadway, VA), Jerry Sexton (of Hedgesville, WV), Christie Sexton (of Pasadena, MD), their Grandchildren: Elliott Harris, Lorie Cox Cave, Lindsey Cox Mawyer, Christine Smith, April Zion Brockmeyer Rosa, Ryan Sexton, and Kim Sexton Steuber, their Great Grandchildren: Nathan Brockmeyer, Nicholas Brockmeyer, Alyssa Mawyer, Christopher Mawyer, Jenna Cave, Jordan Cave, Jordan Harris, Aiden Harris, Holly Bickel, Carly Bickel, Preston Steuber, Hudson Steuber, Kayla Sexton and Katelyn Sexton, Great Great Grand Children: Zelda Fabian, and Jaden Rosa, and by many close relatives in Maryland, and West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents: Marshall H. Mullis and Mary Douglas Dew Mullis, and her brothers: Marshall Spencer Mullis, Raymond D. Mullis, and Forrest H. Mullis.

Betty was a member of the Church of God in Great Cacapon, WV, and spent many active years in the Hanover Assembly of God Church in Hanover, MD. She and her husband, Tom, spent many happy hours singing and playing music with dear friends at the Log Cabin Camp Ground, Cross Junction, VA and with their many music picking friends wherever they found them.

Betty was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 13, 1935, and lived for many years in Savage, Elkridge and Hanover, Maryland, before moving to Great Cacapon, WV. She graduated from Howard High School (MD) in 1953 and worked for many years at Westinghouse in Savage, MD.

Relatives and friends may call at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Ave., Laurel, MD on Wednesday, June 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where service will held on Thursday, July 1 at 1 p.m. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www.donaldsonfuneralhome.com.
